Millie Bobby Brown fans are petitioning the star to stay Barbie blonde forever

Stranger things have happened than Millie Bobby Brown’s new hair transformation, but the internet still can’t get over the star’s 18th birthday get-up. The look saw the actress trade in her usual mid-brunette shade for a Barbie blonde colour, causing fans to do a double take.

Millie made a reference to borrowing Barbie’s style by captioning an Instagram snap “Hey Ken”. She’s joined in the image by boyfriend Jake Bongiovi (the son of noughties school disco icon Jon Bon Jovi, by the way), who’s had a floppy Malibu hair makeover of his own. The result is likely meant to channel Ken, but does anyone else think it’s screaming Prince Charming from Shrek?

We were hoping and praying that Millie may have entered a new blonde era, but the style is likely merely the result of a good wig. This hasn’t stopped her fans from demanding, and pretty much petitioning, for the star to make blonde a permanent feature.

“Petition for Millie Bobby Brown to dye her hair blonde!!!! Blonde is her colour!!!” commented one fan under her Instagram snap. Another said, “Blonde?!? I didn’t even recognise you at first.”

A third wrote, “I didn’t even recognise her!! She’s a bomb blonde!!”

Millie also tagged her hairstylist Pete Burkill in the selfie, who dropped some of the product details in a post of his own.

"Happy 18th beautiful @milliebobbybrown. Thanks for trusting us to have so much fun with your lewks. Blondes have more fun right?" he captioned the image. "Hair by me @peteburkill using @sachajuanuk @ghdhair."

If you look past her hair (hard, we know), you’ll spot the actress is also wearing a much punchier makeup look than usual. With dramatic cat eye flicks and smoky charcoal eyeshadow, Millie looks much more “Euphoria” than “Stranger Things”. Her makeup artist Buster Knight also used the hashtag Euphoria to describe the look, so we imagine he took inspiration from the show’s glam styles to help get Millie 18th birthday ready.

The Enola Holmes actress isn’t the only celeb to have blonde on their mind this month. Vogue Williams gave a masterclass on nailing the “expensive blonde” colour trend just a few weeks ago, opting to give her “rooty” hair a tonal transformation after a sun-soaked Maldives holiday.
