CUE the air guitars – because Keanu Reeves revealed today that there WILL be a third Bill & Ted film, even though he and co-star Alex Winter are in their 50s.

Keanu, 54, will reprise his role as Theodore ‘Ted’ Logan while Alex, 53, returns as William ‘Bill’ Preston Esq.

In a joint message, the pair told fans: “We are here at the Hollywood Bowl – where we will never play – to announce something.

“We want to say thank you to you the fans because it looks like we might actually, hopefully make a movie this summer. Bill & Ted 3: Face The Music.

“It is all because of you guys so we owe you a huge debt of gratitude and we wanted to say thank you – and be excellent.”

The movie, which is set to be released in 2020, sees the now middle-aged pair meet a visitor from the future.

They are then told that their band Wyld Stallyns’ song is the “only thing that can save humanity”.

The official synopsis hints that they are not the only cast members who will return, explaining: “Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.”

Bill & Ted Face The Music will be directed by Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot, with the screenplay by the same writers of the previous two Bill & Ted movies, Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.

Most fans rejoiced at the news, though some questioned what exactly they would get up to now they were in their 50s.

One tweeted: “Bill and Ted go for their colonoscopy?”

The first, Bill & Ted movie, Excellent Adventure, landed in 1989, with Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey following in 1991.

And with another film in the pipeline, the boys are proving just can’t just party on, they can party on and on and on.
