Kate Middleton’s ‘daunting’ warning to Meghan and Harry over newborn Spring baby

Kate Middleton has warned new parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry that the first few weeks are 'always a bit daunting the first time round'.

But the Duchess of Cambridge did add that May was a 'special time of year' to have a baby.

Prince Louis and Prince Charlotte, cousins to the newborn Baby Sussex, have both just celebrated their birthdays.

The Duchess of Cambridge was with Prince William at Cutty Sark in Greenwich, south east London this afternoon – their first public appearance since becoming aunt and uncle to the little one.

Kate said: "We're looking forward to meeting him and finding out what his name's going to be so it's really exciting for both of them.

"These next few weeks are always a bit daunting the first time round so we wish them all the best."

The mum-of-three added: "It's such a special time… with Louis and Charlotte just having had their birthdays, it's such a great time of year to have a baby and spring is in the air so it's really great.

"We look forward to meeting him and finding out what his name is going to be, it's really exciting for both of them."

Baby Sussex, who has yet to be named, arrived at 5.26am on Monday, weighing 7lb 3oz, and is thought to have been born at the couple's Frogmore Cottage home near Windsor Castle.

But there are some reports claiming the baby was delivered in a London hospital.

Asked if he had any pearls of wisdom for his younger brother as a dad-of-three, William laughed and said: "Plenty of advice, plenty of advice, but no, I wish him all the best and I hope the next few days they can settle down and enjoy having a newborn in their family and the joys that come with that."

The Duke and Duchess are launching The King's Cup which will see the couple go head to head in a major sailing regatta in support of their charitable causes.

During an official visit to Germany with the Duchess of Cornwall, Charles said: "We couldn't be more delighted at the news and we're looking forward to meeting the baby when we return."
