Kate Middleton Didn't Wear Her Engagement Ring During a Royal Outing — Here's Why
Kate Middleton stepped out on Tuesday in her go-to tweed Dolce & Gabbana suit, half-back ponytail retaining its characteristic bounce — but there was something missing …
The diamond-studded 12-carat sapphire engagement ring and white gold diamond eternity band that live on the Duchess of Cambridge’s left hand were not present during her visit to Evelina Children’s Hospital. But before you read too much into it, note that Middleton was still wearing her gold wedding band.
So, why’d she ditch the jewels for her outing? It’s simple: Hospital policy. According to People, due to the need to thoroughly cleanse one’s hands before touring the facility, guests are encouraged not to wear jewelry.
It’s not the first time Middleton has left her ring at home, either. She routinely removes the iconic piece, which formerly belonged to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, before visiting hospitals.
You can rest easy, Kate and William shippers.
