‘I’m a tanning expert — there’s a list of 9 things you must not do on a sunbed’

A tanning expert has issued a warning to sunbed users about things they should never do when getting under the blue glow of the UV beds.
A woman, who posts on the account for Advanced Tans in Southminster, Essex, has gone viral after she shared a video on social media with a list of "things NOT to do on a sunbed."
In the video, which has gained more than 35,000 likes, she started off by saying people mustn't "use oils, creams and lotions not designed for sunbeds" or even "use your phone whilst in a sunbed (save your eyes)".

The expert added that sunbeds must not be used by someone who is "hungover or dehydrated" or someone who has recently had "surgery, tattoos, fillers or waxing etc."
She also advised people to check with their doctor if they are on antibiotics at the time of their tanning appointment.
Tanning fans have also been warned not to overheat themselves in the hope of getting a better tan or to sit up too fast after being on a sunbed for a long time.
Finally, sunbed users are also advised "not to wear makeup, jewellery or glasses" or use "tingle cream – unless you're a regular tanner."
TikTok users were left stunned by the warning as some took to the comments claiming they had never heard of some of the rules, while others shared horror stories.
One user said: "I always wear my ring and necklace I never take them off."
Another added: "Yep the antibiotics thing is real. I think it makes your skin more sensitive. I burned lol."
A third commented: "When I first used tingle cream, I thought I was going to die."
"I’ve never been more grateful to be naturally tanned," a fourth wrote.

The NHS website warns that tanning beds can "cause your skin to age prematurely, making it look coarse, leathery and wrinkled."
They also say "sunbeds give out ultraviolet (UV) rays that increase your risk of developing skin cancer, both skin cancer (melanoma) and skin cancer (non-melanoma).
"Many sunbeds give out greater doses of UV rays than the midday tropical sun."
