I can't stop spending my wages on gambling and can't pay off my debts each month
DEAR DEIDRE: EVERY pay day I kid myself I have enough money to gamble and I want to stop.
I am 23 and struggling. I know I am wasting my money and it’s a mug’s game, especially when I am trying hard to pay off my debts. I try to be careful throughout the month and only buy essentials. I rarely socialise.
I had a gambling problem a few years ago but managed to stop and get back on track. I want to do that again. I am OK most of the time but when I get my wages, I feel like dabbling, hoping to win big so I can be debt-free.

All work and no play can build too much pressure, so allow yourself some monthly cash for a modest social life. It should ease the temp-tation to gamble on pay day.
