Hilarious photographs show people who are DEFINITELY having a worse Blue Monday than you

THE credit card bill has arrived, you got drenched on your way to work and Christmas seems like a distant memory.

Welcome to Blue Monday, officially the most depressing day of the year.

But, before you start weeping into your cornflakes, just remember that things could be much, much worse.

From the woman who got her head stuck in metal railings and had to be rescued by firemen to the guy who broke a set of glass scales, these hilarious photographs prove there are plenty of people out there having a tougher time.

One commuter was enjoying a large cola when he accidentally knocked over the plastic cup and split the fizzy pop all over the passenger seat.

Meanwhile, a woman was left frustrated after every other order number bar hers was called in the burger takeaway queue.

A little girl got a right eyeful while riding to school.

The youngster, who was strapped to the back of a bike, pulled a disapproving face after her dad's jeans rode down and he accidentally flashed his bottom directly in her face.

A cook who wanted to rustle up a tasty stew was left screaming in annoyance after the basin of her pot broke off spilling the vegetables and meat all over her kitchen counter.

A couple of unlucky people have had their days ruined by paint.

One guy unknowingly leaned on a post that had just been re-painted, while a decorator turned the air blue after the pots of white paint he had in the back of his car exploded all over the seat, windows and boot.

Sometimes the simplest things in life can be the most frustrating.

One hungry guy was left fuming after the vending machine failed to dispense his snack, while one soda fan was unable to drink her pop after the ring pull from her can was missing.

Meanwhile, two supermarket workers were left with the arduous task of cleaning up hundreds of broken eggs after a crate they were moving tipped over.

What is Blue Monday?

Blue Monday is said to be the most depressing day of the year.

The phrase was first coined in 2005 by a PR company and supposedly takes into account the weather, motivation levels, time since Christmas and when we've likely given up New Year's resolutions.

The sum of those things combined make the third Monday of January, although in the past it has been the second or fourth, the most miserable day of the year.

However, mental health charity Mind has called it “dangerously misleading”, while others have branded it a “pseudoscientific day of gloom”.
