Heroic boy, 8, saves mum’s life after she has allergic reaction to chocolate
A quick-thinking eight-year-old helped save his mum's life after she had a severe allergic reaction to chocolate.
Jennifer Lamb – who was home alone with her son William – started going into anaphylactic shock shortly after eating the treat.
Struggling to breathe, the 34-year-old managed to get his attention by throwing things and making noise, reports Wales Online.
When the youngster came downstairs, Mrs Lamb signalled that she was struggling for breath and he called 999.
The mother-of-two said: "I could hear vaguely the conversation between him and the operator and I remember hearing him say 'Mummy isn't well, she can't breathe'.
"He started doing as they were telling him and he laid me on the floor and lifted my head back to help open my airways, because by that point I was absolutely gasping for breath.
"He opened the door ready for the paramedics but other than that he didn't leave my side."
Mrs Lamb's husband then returned home and took over from William – who had been set to stay at his grandparents' house that night before a last-minute change-of-heart.
She continued: "The first response team were there within 10 minutes but without a doubt William saved my life.
"Doing what he did gave me enough extra time before the ambulance arrived."
