In a sneak preview of the show Eric told Norma she looked ‘worth waiting for’ but joked that he was ‘more of a trap than a catch’ himself.

On This Morning Eric admitted he still missed his late wife, and thought he would never find someone else again.

He continued: ‘I’ve been 20 years living on my own, I thought it might pass by. I welcomed it and from then on I’ve wanted to go on with it.’

He added: I had so many friends and family that rallied round [when she died]. I missed her, I miss her now, but people couldn’t ask me about my wife six or months after she died without it affecting me.

‘As time goes on, you don’t forget her completely because there’s always things at home that reminds you of it. I miss buying a present, I miss her laugh. Ninety times out of a hundred I’d buy the wrong thing and we’d have a natter about it.’

However, he appeared to hit it off with Norma, being impressed at how active she was at her age.
