Driver horrified after seeing what cyclist with child does in front of lorry
Each day on the roads across the UK there are a number of accidents, caused by tiredness, impatience and all round carelessness.
One lorry driver has seen his fair share of reckless behaviour over the years, but couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw what one cyclist did right in front of him.
HGV driver Richard Hook, 32, watched in horror as a man riding a bike with a small child sitting on the back, decided to overtake a lorry on a roundabout.
Richard’s dashcam captured the shocking incident which occurred in Weybridge, Surrey.
The footage begins with Richard, from Winchester, driving down Church Street in Weybridge.
He comes to a halt at a roundabout, just as another lorry begins approaching from the other direction.
A loud horn can be heard in the video, as a cyclists darts out in front of the lorry and across the roundabout.
Richard begins shouting at the cyclist – who isn’t wearing a helmet and has a young child sat on the back of his bike.
Thankfully the child does have a helmet on.
The lorry driver proceeds to share his shock through a series of expletives: "F*** me! F***ing hell!"
He adds: "Got a bit shaken up there."
The cyclist continues over the roundabout without stopping and then heads onto Balfour Road.
Richard recently uploaded the clip to a Facebook dashcam group, where it has since been viewed hundreds of times.
He captioned the video, saying: "Dad of the year, apologies in advance for bad language."
Outraged by the footage, many people took the time to comment and share their thoughts on the cyclist.
One person wrote: "Ok if you’re a cyclist and have no regard for your own life. Do not have the same opinion for your child’s."
Another posted: "Holy c***! Gamble with his own life if he wants, but not the kid too!"
A third added: "I hope the boy’s mother sees the video! Cannot believe he rides like that with a child on the back. Well done lorry driver. Could well of been a double fatality."
Richard later revealed that the footage was actually taken in 2015, but he’d decided to share it with the public to raise awareness.
He explained: "As a professional driver you see this sort of thing all the time so was not surprised.
"You learn to look out for these idiots. The child on the back just makes it horrific."
