Cheltenham 2019: TV star Chris Hughes reveals his top tips for festival
Chris sat down with Sun Racing’s MATT CHAPMAN to share his tips for the Cheltenham Festival.
Champion Hurdle – Buveur D’Air
This horse is the best in the business, who can beat him? I fully back him to get a hat-trick of wins in this race.
He’s looked by far the best in Britain and Ireland over the last couple of years.
Buveur D’Air may have flopped at Kempton over Christmas but he will be raring to go at Cheltenham.
Apple's Jade has done well in Ireland this year but I don't think she’ll be good enough over two miles, while Laurina is too inexperienced at this level.

Champion Chase – Altior
This won’t take long. This lad’s the best two-mile chaser around and I reckon even if I was riding him he’d win.
There’s nothing to take him on and hopefully he can saunter clear under jockey Nico de Boinville.
Put it this way – Altior getting beat is less likely than me and Kem getting asked to perform at the Grammys!
Sun Racing Stayers’ Hurdle – Paisley Park
I’ve got to be loyal here to one of my best mates, Aidan Coleman.
We’ve always been close and every now and then I treat him to a dinner or a night out.
He can be a bit of a liability once he's had a drink, though!
His mount Paisley Park stays for days and has done nothing wrong so far, and it would be great to see Aidan steer him home.

Gold Cup – Native River
Davy Russell is the king of Cheltenham but I’ve got to be loyal to top trainer Colin Tizzard.
I just think the Gold Cup is made for Native River – he loves the Cheltenham hill and I think he’ll win again.
He’s the defending champion and for me he's the one to beat. It’s a very open race but he’s the one that stands out.
I’ll be cheering him on when he devours his favourite hill!
