Aldi is selling a Christmas pudding flavoured GAMMON joint – and it has a mince pie glaze

The budget supermarket's alternative festive centrepiece is stuffed with dried fruit and is topped with an edible gold shimmer.

The Specially Selected Christmas Pudding Gammon – which becomes a "ham" only once it's cooked – costs £12.99 for a 1.3kg joint, which works out at £9.99 per kg.

The gammon is sweet cured and is finished with a glaze that is meant to taste like mince pies. It's even topped with mincemeat full of dried fruit.

It's only available in stores though – so if you want to pick one up, you'll have to head to an Aldi today as the supermarket will be closed tomorrow and on Boxing Day.

The unusual dinner option is double the price of Aldi's other quirky meat centrepiece: a Gingerbread Gammon Joint.

The gammon, which costs £6.99 for 1kg, is topped with a ginger-flavour crumb. It's also only available in stores.

But you can pick up a gammon joint for even less at Aldi if you buy it plain.

The supermarket's Freshcure Gammon Joint costs £2.29 for 750g, or £3.05 per kg.

Alternatively, Tesco has a sweetcure gammon joint with an orange and marmalade glaze for £10 – that's £2.99 cheaper than Aldi's Christmas Pudding Gammon.

Aldi has over 620 stores in the UK, you can find your nearest outlet using its online tool.

If you don't fancy cooking Christmas dinner tomorrow, Aldi is selling a ready meal version for two with all the trimmings for £8.99.

The store is battling to have the cheapest fizz prices this year as supermarkets wage a price war on bottles of bubbly.

Meanwhile, the supermarket is launching a massive baby sale in January and prices start from just 99p.
