ONCE mould appears in your bathroom it can be tricky to get rid of, especailly if you're replying on pricey products to magic it away.
The best way to fight mould is to stop it appearing in the first place, which is where these five houseplants come in.
Chris Bonnett from GardeningExpress.co.uk, explained: "Mould in the home is caused by excess humidity. Warm rooms, like bathrooms and kitchens are at particular risk.
"Using plants to help keep mould at bay is a practical and natural way to control humidity and moisture in your home."
Speaking to Express.co.uk, experts at Big Bathroom Shop shared the top five plants you should add to your bathroom if you want to keep mould at bay – and one of them is just £2 in B&Q right now.
Cactus
Because they thrive in hot and humid location, Cacti are perfect for steamy bathrooms.

Rikki Fothergill, bathroom style expert at Big Bathroom Shop explained: "Whilst this low maintenance plant requires at least six hours of sunlight a day, they don’t require direct sunlight.
“This means you can place them wherever you like to bring an urban feel to your bathroom as long as there is a source of natural light."
Aloe Vera
This plant will thrive with very little water and plenty of sunlight, so homeowners can pop one on their bathroom windowsill and reap the benefits.
Aloe Vera helps prevent mould by releasing oxygen, which helps purify the air and remove airborne toxins.

Ivy
If you don't consider yourself to have much of a green thumb, Ivy is the perfect plant for you.
It's known to be really low maintenance, but still works wonders when it comes to preventing mould.
Rikki said: “They also don’t need too much sunlight and can survive well within the shade, making them ideal for those windowless bathrooms, or those with smaller windows, unlike many other houseplants.
"Ivy can also help cleanse the air, with reports of English ivy tackling up to 78 percent of airborne mould.”
Fern
Ferns thrive in humid environments so the bathroom is the perfect place for them.
The plant will need to be drained regularly, but they will look stunning hung up in your bathroom, and they can help clear the air as well.
There are different verities of this plant you can choose from, but how much space you have and how much light your bathroom gets will depend on which is the best fit for your home.
Snake Plant
Snake Plants are known to improve the quality of the air wherever you put them, so whether it's your bathroom or bedroom, it's a great plant to pick up.
The large, thick leaves on the plant are said to remove chemicals from the air, including mould spores.

Prices for this plant start at around £10 in shops like Homebase and B&Q, but if you look after them well they should last for years to come.
Snake plants also grown new shoots, or "babies" as gardeners fondly refer to them. The new shoots can be removed and potted separately to grow more plants.
