These new Bose sunglasses can bring music to your ears
These are definitely one pair of shades you don’t want to accidentally leave in a cab.
These sunglasses come equipped with high-quality Bose speakers. Yes, some chunky beta-looking versions of these already exist from other brands, but the new streamlined Bose models actually look like designer sunglasses.
“They look and act like classic sunglasses — until you turn them on,” says Mehul Trivedi, director of Bose Frame. “And then you’re connected to your phone, contacts, the web, and all its audible content, just like headphones.”
The “smart” sunnies, described as “the world’s first audio augmented reality platform,” are multi-functional with battery-powered Bose speakers for streaming music on each arm and a microphone on one temple for taking calls.
They also function as legit sunglasses — with 99 percent UVA and UVB blocking lenses. But, what might be the coolest, especially if you don’t want to look like a tourist staring at google maps, is the virtual assistants (they link up to your cellphone) that give directions.
The frames come in two styles (Alto-square like and Rondo-round) are available in January for $199.
