UNLIKE Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Cambridges tend to be reserved when it comes to PDA – but this was not the case yesterday.

Kate Middleton was seen placing a loving hand on Prince William’s shoulder in a rare display of public affection.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has paid a visit to Kings Cross yesterday where they met with the Aga Khan ahead of their visit to Pakistan.

And while speaking to guests at the event the couple appeared to share a joke before Kate, 37, put on a tactile display reaching up to rub her husband’s hand.

While the move does not break royal protocol it is an unusual gesture on the basis of formal royal decorum according to etiquette expert Myka Meier.

She previously told People: “Senior members of the royal family would likely not be told how to interact or when they can or cannot show PDA and would be trusted to use their better judgement as to when it’s appropriate.

“The royals often adjust PDA to mirror the formality of the event they are attending.

“At a sombre or more formal event, we are less likely to see PDA than at a casual event where it would be deemed more fitting.”

The event was a formal occasion and therefore the gesture would normally be unexpected.

During yesterday's engagement Kate said that Princess Charlotte is "good with heat" after revealing that she cooks curries for Prince William.

And Kate said she was looking forward to trying the local food on offer in Pakistan when the couple head there in two weeks' time.

It is unclear if the couple will take their three children on the trip from October 14 to 18.
