Mum takes mother-in-law to court for secretly filming granddaughter’s birth and showing ‘random strangers’ – The Sun

A NEW mum has revealed she took her mother-in-law to court for secretly filming her daughter's birth and showing the footage to "random strangers".

Sharing her horrifying experience on Reddit's "Just No Mother-in-Law" forum, the woman explained how she went into labour on Halloween four years ago but didn't give birth to her daughter until four days later.

She wrote: "I honestly didn't think it could get any worse. I. Was. Wrong."

When she arrived at the hospital, the expectant mum was already 8cm dilated (2cm from being able to give birth) and her mother-in-law arrived two hours later expecting to meet her grandchild.

She wrote: "Everything seemed fine and calm until my mother-in-law wanted a cigarette and started to demand I push, then she tried to threaten that if I didn't start pushing, she would have to push down on my stomach to force my daughter out."

Fortunately, the woman's threats were overheard by nurses and she was told to take a walk and calm down.

During her mother-in-law's 40 minute walk, the woman was taken to the delivery suite and "as in the middle of pushing when she ran in."

She continued: "This being my first child and being in labour for so long with no pain meds or rest of food/water I was drained! Pushing was hard as hell and I just wanted to sleep!"

But it was only after her daughter was born that the woman realised her mother-in-law had been filming the whole thing on her phone.

She recalled: "I noticed that the entire labour, my mother-in-law had her phone out and was recording my ENTIRE birth! From my pushing too the stitching process (I tore 100%)."

My mother-in-law demanded I push, then she tried to threaten that if I didn't start pushing, she would have to push down on my stomach to force my daughter out

Even though the mother-in-law promised to delete the video, the woman claims she witnessed her showing the video to others the following week.

She wrote: "It wasn't until a week later when we went to visit her (she had an 'emergency') that I found out she was showing random strangers this video and many of these strangers were men she barely knew.

"It took going to court to get the video deleted and after that she wasn't allowed near me or my daughter."

The woman claims her husband was equally as shocked by her argument that she "deserved the video" because this was the birth of her first granddaughter.

Since sharing her story on the forum, hundreds of other users have expressed their outrage and labelled the video "super violating".

One wrote: "Who the hell 1) does that 2) lies about it 3) offers to show people. And who are the people who wanted to see it?!"

Another added: "Is she just that clueless??? I am so glad you are keeping her away from you and the kids."

For more shocking family dramas, this woman has slammed her "mother-in-law from hell" who walks in during sex with her husband and encouraged them to "keep going".

And this woman slammed her brother for "stealing" the baby name she had wanted to use for years in a sweet tribute to their late sister.

Plus this wife dumped her husband on the day he was given just five years to live – and doesn't regret her decision.
