Meghan Markle's '£800,000 pregnancy' revealed as cost of glam wardrobe and '£15,000 royal baby birth' adds up

MEGHAN Markle's pregnancy is estimated to have cost a staggering £800,000 – equalling just over $1million, The Sun Online can reveal.

The Duchess of Sussex's glam maternity wardrobe and reported £15,000-a-night private hospital birth all added to the staggering sum.

We totted up the bill as a beaming Meghan and Prince Harry showed bouncing baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor to the world yesterday.

The royals also released a heartwarming photo of little Archie being introduced to his delighted great-grandparents the Queen and Prince Philip at Windsor Castle.

It was the touching culmination of a long nine months that saw Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, tally up a lengthy list of expenses linked to the pregnancy – totalling just shy of £800k at £783,200, or $1,018,800.

Here, we break down all the known costs – from the A-list New York baby shower to the Duke and Duchess's plush "babymoon" spa retreat.

New York baby shower: £154,000

Meghan enjoyed a baby shower in Manhattan worth $200,000 (154,000), according to estimates.

Among guests were the former actress's celeb pals like tennis player Serena Williams.

Serena is said to have paid for the party – which included a flower-arranging lesson and dessert tasting with a Michelin-star chef, Vanity Fair reported.

Aside from the bash, Meghan also spent her short trip to the Big Apple dining in plush exclusive restaurants.

Tennis ace Serena footed the £57,400-a-night-bill for the penthouse at The Mark hotel in the upmarket Upper East-Side district of New York.

The two-storey suite includes five bedrooms, four fireplaces, six bathrooms, two powder rooms and views of Central Park.

Private jet to US: £58,000

A pal is also said to have paid to fly Meghan out from the UK in style – giving her use of their private jet.

The cost of the flight is believed to have amounted to as much as £77,000.

Nursery renovation: £50,000

We told how Meghan and Harry spent an estimated £50,000 pounds renovating the nursery at their Frogmore Cottage home.

They installed a green-energy unit and redesigned the nursery in an eco-friendly fashion with help from the interior designer Vicky Charles. They even used a vegan paint with rosemary oils and eucalyptus.

Acupuncture: £8,700

The royal couple has also forked out an estimated £8,700 pounds on acupuncture and numerology.

Meghan was regularly receiving acupuncture by a celebrity acupuncturist at a herbal wellness centre to help her with her pregnancy.

Harry is believed to have joined his wife in these visits –  which can cost an eye-watering £6,200 for a year of 45-minute sessions.

The couple has also visited Ilapothecary in Notting Hill, London, for numerology – which costs £2,500 pounds for a 12-week programme.

Meghan's maternity wardrobe: £385,000

The Duchess of Sussex was sure to stay on the cutting edge of fashion during her pregnancy.

In doing so, she's believed to have racked up a jaw-dropping £385,000 clothes shopping bill.

That's according to a report by Glamour magazine, citing research by Love The Sales' blog.

This cost would have come from the royal purse as they cannot accept free clothes from brands.

Spa 'babymoon': £33,000

The couple enjoyed a getaway at Heckfield Place, a luxury spa in Hampshire, as part of their fashionable "babymoon" before the royal birth.

With walnut floors and floor mats sourced from the River Ouse, the hotel serves food from a home farm, orchard and kitchen gardens right to your room – which cost up to £10,000 a night.

The five-star stay also houses a wellness spa with natural treatments and holistic wellness practices using skincare products that can cost £130 for a small pot.

Prince Harry and Meghan stayed for a total of three nights – along with their three protection officers who needed their own rooms.

Private hospital birth: £15,000

It's been reported that Meghan opted for the luxurious £20k Portland Hospital – where pal Victoria Beckham gave birth.

The American-run hospital is known for its A-list patients, including Liz Hurley, Jools Oliver and the Duchess of York, with some VIP mums spending hundreds of thousands of pounds having their babies.

The Portland offers five-star hotel service for new mums, with 36 private rooms as well as a nursery.

Then there's the 24-hour room service, luxurious Molton Brown toiletries and suites for family and visitors.

The cheapest "birthing package" costs around £15,000 but it's reported that some mums spend an eye-watering £500,000 based on a long labour and other add-ons.
