This is also the case if you try and have sex in the sea, as bacteria can form inside the body which can cause problems later down the line.
Depending on the time of day, the sand may be very hot to the touch, so lying on a towel is advisable.
Sunscreen is also advisable if getting frisky in the sun.

The Sexual Offences Act 2003 does not specifically state that sex on the beach is illegal.

However, it does have certain guidelines about exposing yourself in a public place.
You could be guilty of outraging public decency if the act has been witnessed by more than one person.
It could also be seen as a case of indecent exposure if genitals are exposed with the intention to cause alarm or distress.
Therefore it is advisable to find a secluded spot if you wish to romp at the seaside.

It is not technically illegal to have sex on the beach but if caught you should dress and leave.
It is rare for those caught having sex on the beach to be arrested.
Police are more likely to hand out a caution or warning.
You should leave the area as soon as possible to avoid causing further distress.
Remember, laws are different across the world, so make sure you're not breaking the rules if romping on a beach overseas.
