I'm sick of my neighbours gawping into my bedroom so installed a privacy film on my window – it cost £7 & took seconds | The Sun

A WOMAN who was sick of her neighbours "gawping in" her ground floor bedroom window decided to take measures to give herself some extra privacy.

Emilie explained that living on the ground floor meant that she had a direct view of the entrance her neighbours used to their abode – and they consequently had a direct view of her bedroom too.

"My bedroom window looks out onto the entrance that my neighbours use and I'm sick of them gawping in at me," Emilie explained.

So she ordered some privacy film from Amazon, and got started getting it set up on her window.

"I started by giving my windows a good clean – apparently the cleaner the window, the better the film will stick – and then used a tape measure to measure the size of the windows," she said in her TikTok video.

"Using my measurements and a pen, I just marked out roughly what I needed the size of the glass to be.

"Then I put it up against the window just to check, and trimmed off any excess from the edges.

"And then because I had one perfect window shape, I managed to just trace round it onto another piece of paper."

She then mixed together washing up liquid and water in a spray bottle, and liberally sprayed both the window and the film.

"I do think the water's good because it helped me move the film into the perfect position," Emilie said.

"However, I don't think the Fairy Liquid really did anything good.

"It left lots of residue marks, so I got my squeegee and I just went over the window to make sure I got any air bubbles out."

Once she'd done that, Emilie showed the final result.

"It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and I'm so happy now I can sit on my bed without having any extra eyes on me," she concluded.

People were quick to comment on the video, with some questioning why she just didn't put up curtains.

But Emilie explained that she's renting, so had to come up with a temporary idea.

And she wasn't the only person to have invested in the film – which starts from around £7 – to prevent nosy neighbours from seeing into her home.

"I used this the moment I notice people staring into my back garden through the window from their balcony," one wrote.
