I use urine to clear my acne – I swear it works, people say I’m gross
A WOMAN has revealed that she uses her own pee to clear her acne – and it’s left her followers disgusted.
Thess, from the Philippines, recently shared a video on YouTube where she tried applying her own urine to her pimples in an effort to clear her skin.
Speaking in the video, she explains: “I’m going to use urine on my face – it sounds bizarre
“My face and my eyes look so stressed right now, there are pimples popping out of my face.
“I heard that putting a little amount of urine on your pimples is very effective as it makes it less bumpier and smaller.
“You might think that I’m crazy but I’m not.”
Thess can then be seen applying a small amount of her own urine directly to each spot, using her finger.
“The smell is so bad,” she admits, “You can feel a bit of stinging,” she adds, comparing the feeling to ‘salt in a wound.’
Thess explains that she is going to wait for her urine to dry before sleeping with it on her face.
The following morning she shared the results with her followers, with some of her pimples appearing significantly reduced.
“The pain from those pimples is gone,” Thess says, “I would say yes it is effective.”
However, Sun Doctor Carol Cooperwarns against the trend.
She says, "It’s amazing what weird remedies people try for their acne.
"Urine is a popular folk treatment for many conditions especially in the East but there’s no evidence that it’ll do acne any good.
"Urine does contain the waste product urea which has an anti-drying action and can relieve itching, but there’s not enough of it in wee to make any difference.
"Urine isn’t sterile and if you put it on spots there’s a risk of introducing bacteria and yeasts into skin that’s already inflamed.
"This “treatment” should go down the pan."
