I turned my garage into a tiny home for my son so he wouldn't move out – it's so glam that people ask me to adopt them | The Sun
PARENTS who want their kids to stay home a bit longer should take a page from one handy couple's playbook.
All it took for this mom to keep her son from moving out was some modern modifications to the garage.
"Watch this 1-minute timeline and see how we transformed this empty garage into a beautiful apartment for our son," the woman behind (@herhomereno) said as she gave a tour of the tiny space.
The DIY TikToker showed images of a very messy – and definitely not move-in ready – wooded garage area with old tools, appliances, chairs, and posters strewn around.
She continued to peruse her pages of updated kitchen and bathroom spaces while taking notes on what still needed to be done in operation: make my son stay.
Dad, meanwhile, seemed to be getting busy as he made improvements to the white garage door while the TikToker could be seen taking measurements – and more notes, of course.
Her husband then moved outside and began to use machinery on what looked like stainless steel bars.
The glasses-wearing mom even gave a wave to the camera before she was next seen in more home-improvement-ready gear of paint-stained jeans, and sneakers.
Some green, blue, white, and tan shades of paint now splotched the walls as viewers got a glimpse of green tiles before a shopping spree for supplies got underway.
In what appeared to be an Ikea store, she could be seen playing around with a storage basket in a showroom closet.

The work continued back at home as her husband started to paint the soon-to-be garage-converted home a light shade of green that matched the exterior of their own home.
With dark wooden cabinets and an island now visible in the kitchen area, as well as an archway that seemed to lead into a living area with a back door, the space was indeed taking shape.
Her husband also made some finishing touches which included putting up green graduated fabric wallpaper.
Followers then got a close-up of a washer-dryer unit – and an upgraded bathroom with a backsplash that now made clear where the green subway tiles had ended up.
Featuring beamed ceilings and an updated bathroom vanity, the tiny home had undergone some big improvements.
The TikToker then playfully showed viewers a brass faucet before a snap of the fingers gave way to the reveal of some massive renovation magic.
The old space was now a stylish home with a kitchen featuring grey cabinets, a marble island, tan bar stools, hardwood floors, and stainless steel appliances.
A full picture of the bathroom now showed the addition of light grey tiled floors, and a standalone shower.
A blue velvet and tufted sofa with a poster on the wall across from the kitchen rounded out the renovated, compact home.
After seeing all of the work that went into the designer-looking space, more than one follower wanted the TikToker to take them in.
"Can y’all adopt me, please," one such viewer pleaded.
"Sure thing. Pack your bags," the content creator responded.
Mom and Dad even had a celebratory dance in honor of the successful results of the renovation.
