From 'shy' toddler to 'thoughtful' schoolboy, how Prince George’s pictures show he’s a king-in-waiting
PRINCE George turns eight today and Kate Middleton has released an adorable new photo of her eldest child.
Body language expert Judi James has said the future king has gone from a “shy” toddler to a “confident” schoolboy.
The sweet photo showed a beaming George snapped earlier this month in Norfolk by mum Kate.
Judi told Fabulous: “George’s birthday body language signals of calm confidence and sociability show how he’s growing into a king-in-waiting.
"This photo marks the moment we begin to glimpse not only the more adult, sociable, calm and grown-up side to George’s personality, but also a more dramatic reminder of his royal history.
“Some of the childlike naughtiness and shyness has gone from his smile here and with his confidently raised chin; his relaxed posture, with his body leaning forward to greet the camera, we begin to see his father in his posture and eye expression.
“George seems to have outgrown his shyness signals here and to have traits of increased confidence and independence.
“The symmetry of his smile and the way his cheeks are rounded show genuine happiness but the more grown-up eye expression and connection with his mother behind the camera suggests a more thoughtful and empathetic side might be emerging, too."

Every year, the Cambridges release a photo ahead of their kids’ birthdays and we have had some adorable shots of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, six, and Prince Louis, three, over the years.
We last saw the eldest Cambridge child when he melted hearts at the Euro 2020 Final, happily hugging his dad Prince William in celebration as England scored their first goal.
Judi said the moment helped show how George idolises his dad.
She explained: “His first glance is at William and as he sees his dad celebrate by roaring and air-punching we can see George use postural mimicry and mirroring to respond in almost exactly the same way.
“After hugging his dad to share the moment of intense celebration, George sets about producing his own personal ritual of joy and the way he throws both arms up and out shows who has learnt them from.
“He even rubs his nose in a trait that we often see in William and both father and son pull at their trouser belts in matching body language routines.”
