Do you have a 'summer penis'? How the hot weather is VERY good news for blokes
WITH temperatures set to soar over the next fortnight, there's an unlikely phenomenon which is sure to boost a man's, ahem, ego.
Men are claiming the heat is giving them "summer penis" and, ladies, when you find out what it is you'll know why they're boasting.
Summer penis – not to be confused with the itchy and painful summer penile syndrome caused by bites down there – refers to a man's pride and joy appearing bigger in the heat.
Now, I know what you're thinking…that's just wishful thinking for a man.
But actually, it can happen, though the chances are fairly slim.
It's essentially the opposite of what happens when you're cold.
We've all heard a man joke that his member is small because it's chilly – something that can happen when the blood vessels constrict to keep the internal organs warm.
Well, when we are hot our blood vessels expand to cool our blood at the surface of the skin and that can work wonders for a man's appearance.
Dr Sarah Jarvis, GP and clinical director of Patient.info, told The Sun Online: "Technically when you're hot, as well as when you are excited, then your blood vessels may expand.
"When blood vessels on the surface are a bit bigger then things are going to look a bit bigger.
"But your penis is not growing, it's just your blood vessels growing slightly larger as a way to reduce heat.
"And no, it's not going to make you perform better either – when you are erect your penis is swollen to the max anyway."
