WWE Hall of Famer Bret 'The Hitman' Hart Just Revealed His Skin Cancer Diagnosis

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart has revealed that he’s been diagnosed with skin cancer.

The former WWE Champion shared the news of his diagnosis on Instagram, explaining that he’s battling basal cell carcinoma (BCC).

Hart wrote: “Goal for 2020 and beyond: wear more sunscreen! Basal cell carcinoma removal scheduled soon. Another opportunity to remind everyone to look after your health and #getchecked.”

According to skincancer.org, BCC is the most common form of skin cancer with more than 4 million cases diagnosed in the US each year.

It adds that “because BCCs grow slowly, most are curable and cause minimal damage when caught and treated early”.

Over the years, Hart has battled a number of health problems. In 2002, he suffered a stroke after hitting his head in a bicycle accident.

In February 2006, he revealed that he’d been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He later announced that he had been given the all-clear from the disease following a successful surgery.

Hart retired from wrestling in 2000 but made a brief in-ring return to WWE in 2010 for a match with Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 26.

His most recent WWE appearance was at the 2019 Hall of Fame when his former stable The Hart Foundation was inducted.

A month later, he made a surprise appearance at All Elite Wrestling’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view, to unveil the AEW World Championship.
