Why Josh Duhamel Was Once 'So Jealous' of Ashton Kutcher and Wants a Younger Woman After Fergie Divorce

The single actor says he’s not “trying to just f–k anything” after splitting with his pop star ex-wife.

Josh Duhamel revealed a fun fact about his Hollywood history while appearing on Dax Shepard’s "Armchair Expert" podcast Thursday.

He once beat out Ashton Kutcher to be named the Male Model of the Year at a competition in New York City back in the day before he set out to become an actor. "It’s literally like Miss USA," he said after describing the catwalk face-off as "the real-life ‘Zoolander.’"

It was the highlight of 23-year-old Duhamel’s life at the time — but it didn’t do much to change it.

"So after I win this thing, I think I’m off to the races -— this is my ticket to stardom," Duhamel told Shepard. "Nothing happened for four years. I didn’t even get that agency contract that I thought I was going to get."

"Literally nothing happened. Ashton became Ashton. He got that Calvin Klein campaign, he got ‘That ‘70s Show,’" he continued. "Oh God, I was so jealous of him for so long. I didn’t understand. What happened? I won. I was Male Model of the Year!"

But obviously, life still worked out just fine for Duhamel, who went on star in hit TV drama "Las Vegas" and the blockbuster "Transformers" franchise, among other major movies. In fact, it was after that modeling contest yielded absolutely nothing in return that Duhamel decided he "wanted to get into acting, because modeling was going nowhere."

After revisiting that minor highlight in his career timeline, Duhamel reflected on splitting with Fergie after eight years of marriage and what he wants next. Shepard was curious if a man with model good looks seeks "approval" from women he perceives as out of his league, and Duhamel responded by saying he’s chasing women with a very specific goal in mind: more children.

"I’m not 30 years old anymore. I’m 45. I want to have more kids," he said, even though he’s actually 46. "So it’s more about finding someone young enough to have kids."

"It’s not as if I’m out there trying to just f–k anything," he continued. "I’m trying to find a girl that I can be with and have a family with. Fergie and I had a great relationship. I love that girl and I always will. Unfortunately we didn’t work, but I will always have her back and she is the mother of my baby."
