‘Vanderpump Rules’ star Ariana Madix on skin cancer battle

“Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix detailed her battle with melanoma, after revealing she had cancer removed in 2018.

Opening up to Entertainment Tonight, the Bravo personality said she was told not to fret about a mole she had on her body for years if it had not evolved. But after a dermatologist suggested she remove the mole, Madix, 33, discovered it was cancerous from the biopsy. She underwent another procedure, due to the melanoma’s close proximity to her lymph nodes.

“Everything has come back negative,” Madix said, adding she will have to see a specialist every six months to make sure everything is in check.

“Once you have it, it’s much easier to have it again or have it throughout your life especially because I’m young,” she continued.

Madix opened up about the cancer scare on Instagram, stating, “I had to have a lil bit o’cancer removed from my body and lymph nodes biopsied.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, “treatment for early-stage melanomas usually includes surgery to remove the melanoma. A very thin melanoma may be removed entirely during the biopsy and require no further treatment.”

In cases where “melanoma has spread to nearby lymph nodes, a surgeon may remove the affected nodes.”

“It’s going to be on ongoing thing, but right now I do not have cancer in my body,” Madix said.
