Truth about Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito’s ‘toxic four-month marriage’
While all eyes were on Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga at the 91st Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday night, especially after that rendition of Shallow, there was someone lurking in the shadows who was about to remind the world of their presence.
No, we are not talking about Bradley’s long-term girlfriend Irina Shayk, who seemingly put on a performance every bit as Oscar worthy than any winner on the night, as she looked ‘ecstatic’ at the chemistry between Gaga and her boyfriend.
It was the until now forgotten fact that Bradley had been married some years ago, albeit for just four months but it was enough to send many fans into meltdown.
With just one word on a post about the legitimacy of Bradley’s relationship with Lady Gaga, actress Jennifer Esposito reminded the world that she has actually been down the aisle with the A Star Is Born director.
Thirteen years ago, Bradley and Jennifer were the talk of the red carpet as Jennifer was an in-demand actress that had starred in Crash, which won Best Picture Oscar and helped raise her stock.
Back in 2006, Bradley was not so well-known and ‘the other half’ had only been seen in Alias and Wedding Crashers, so he was very much the ‘plus one’.
Their relationship had been kept under wraps until that point and with the cat out of the bag, Bradley and Jennifer pushed the fast forward button by October 2006, he had put a ring on it.
Two months later, on December 21, Bradley and Jennifer tied the knot in the south of France and love’s young dream was blossoming.
This was until thoughts of having a family were on the agenda and Jennifer began suffering from a chronic Celiac disease that left her with panic attacks, sinus infections and horrendous back pain.
In her 2014 book, entitled Jennifer’s Way, she described how her marriage to Bradley had become ‘toxic’ and that she had ignored the "entire marching band squad of red flags," that should have warned her off when they first met.
Despite not revealing whether the, "cocky, arrogant, and a master manipulator," that she had hooked up with was actually her husband, but she has never denied it and Bradley hasn’t disputed it.
Looking back at their fledgling romance, Jennifer wrote: "I didn’t necessarily find him that attractive, but I figured that I could enjoy his sense of humour and nonsense for awhile.
"One date became two, two dates became four."
Then became a marriage but by May Day, 2007, Jennifer was filing for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.
At the time, Bradley’s camp had said the split was "mutual" and then claimed that he had been separated from Jennifer, "for quite a while," which was pretty good going for a four-month long marriage.
The divorce was finally rubber-stamped in November 2007 and Bradley later on dismissed his ex-wife as, "just something that happened."
Jennifer has always been a little more pointed, though she hasn’t said it was about Bradley but about a man she was with at the time, which just happens to coincide with the time she was with her ex-husband.
She described this person as having a "mean, cold side," she wrote, and a "personality that could flip on a dime."
Jennifer went on to level at this person that she had become a, "non-issue," and that had difficulty trying," an this had left her feeling, "very alone."
Within days, the relationship had "hit an all-time low, and within a week, it was over."
Until this week, it had been consigned to the footnotes of celebrity marriages but Jennifer roared back into the spotlight as she shared her vicious, one-word thought on Bradley and Gaga’s Oscar performance.
