Tom Hanks & Rita To Settle Troubled Son Chet’s Explosive 2015 Lawsuit

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have agreed to settle in the 2015 fender bender lawsuit involving their son Chet, and a Los Angeles man.

According to the affidavit filed on December 7, Terry Moogan and the Hanks agreed to a conditional settlement, meaning whatever conditions both parties approved must be completed within 45 days.

Details of the settlement were not available.

A request for dismissal has to be filed no later than February 15, 2019, according to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, and a final status conference on the case is set for January 8 of the same year.

In his initial complaint, Terry claimed he was driving his Mercedes E320 on Highway 110 at about 2:00 p.m. when Chet’s car hit from behind. Terry said Chet, 28, was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the incident.

Terry also sued Tom, 62, and Rita, 62, because they allegedly “negligently permitted” Chet to drive a vehicle that they owned. He said in a court document that the famous couple lent their wild child son their vehicle even though they knew he was a “careless and reckless driver and a habitual user of drugs and alcohol.”

According to documents filed by the couple’s attorney, Steven M. Maslausk, Chet immediately admitted to causing the crash, but only challenged the nature and extent of the damages claimed by Terry.

As Radar previously reported, Tom and Rita filed motions asking the court to prevent information about Chet’s past history of alcohol and drug abuse to be used as possible evidence in the case.

Chet, who plays a rapper named Blake on the series Empire, has had various stints in rehab, but has publicly claimed that he’s been sober for the past two years.
