The Chase’s Mark Labbett married his COUSIN… but found out three years later

Make Labbett, also know as The Beast on the hit ITV quiz show, has revealed that he has a family connection with his partner.

Speaking on Loose Women, Mark revealed that he’s actually related to wife Katie, but only realised three years later.

Katie’s dad and Mark’s father are first cousins, making them second cousins.

Presenter Andrea McLean spoke about the bizarre association on the show.

The quiz master told the panel they “weren’t aware at the time” and “it was one of those things that happened”.

He said: “I had been a single man for a long while so I was getting used to the idea of being on my own.

“Especially as a bachelor, we can get pretty selfish, you get used to doing what you want to do all of the time.”

The pair met six years ago through mutual friends, and tied the knot a year later at Arundel Castle.

Katie, who is 26 years younger than the TV star, gave birth to their first child last year.

Mark has put down his recent 3st weight loss down to the arrival of his son, and admitted the secret behind his new slimmer figure was down to the “baby diet”.

The TV star revealed on the The Wright Show that the arrival of his newborn made him quit sugar in order for him shift the pounds.

He said: “I’m still eating big meals, but I couldn’t keep the weight up.

“That and running after a little one is also good at keeping me active.”
