Former BBC Breakfast star Steph McGovern recently celebrated her birthday during the nationwide lockdown. The 38-year-old revealed she was given a crown by her family and even chose to wear it while putting her bins out, as she fumed “lockdowns are s**t”.
Steph was joined on her podcast Not Bad for a Monday by co-stars Geoff and Claire yesterday, when the trio discussed her birthday celebration.
The mum-of-one revealed she was given a “birthday crown” which she admitted “holds back” her growing tresses.
“What is that on your head, Steph?” her co-star Geoff quizzed. “Is it Trident, a fork, is it cutlery?”
Steph chuckled: “It does look like it could be the end of a fork. No, this is my crown.

“It was my birthday at the weekend and I was given a birthday crown. Because let’s face it, birthday lockdowns are s**t.”
She continued: “And my family thought it would be nice to give me a birthday crown but the main thing is, it holds back my ever growing hair.
“Obviously, I still haven’t been able to get it cut yet. So this is the only way that I can see you.”
While sporting her new headgear, Steph suggested her new attire worked as a “brilliant headband” before she confessed to wearing the crown to put her bins out.
She said: “I’m forever wearing a crown. I put the bins out wearing the crown the other day and the neighbours all commented on it.
“So I just thought, ‘Okay, I’m just going to go with this.”
Her co-star Claire chimed: “I like it.”
Steph finished: “I would be full on Shetland pony without this crown and let’s face it, I do suit a crown.”
Elsewhere, the Channel 4 host dished on her partner as she talked about taking on more domestic duties at home.
The couple welcomed their first daughter together last year.
Taking to Twitter, Steph admitted she’s grateful her girlfriend is a “fab cook”.
In view of her 403,000 followers, she penned: “I have always avoided cooking.
“Fortunately my partner is a fab cook. BUT given I am not working much at the mo and she is, I thought it right to take on more domestic duties. I am now regularly making food.”
Steph continued: “And I can reveal after 3 months…. I am still s**t at it.”
Her cheeky comment comes after the TV presenter recently wrapped up her Channel 4 show.
However, The Steph Show is due to return once their Leeds studio is complete and the lockdown is over.
