Stacey Solomon makes own hand sanitiser as shops run out of it amid coronavirus outbreak

Taking to her Instagram account, Stacey Solomon revealed that she was nervous about heading out of the house amid the coronavirus outbreak and so, she made her own hand sanitiser.

The Loose Women star wrote on her stories: "Off to work and I'm going to be honest I'm nervous about being in town so I'm trying to hand make some hand sanitiser to make myself feel better. Wish me luck."

Hand sanitiser needs to have specific ingredients, including an alcohol content of over 60 per cent in order for it to kill germs, so 30 year old Stacey did not divulge the specific recipe that she used to her legions of fans.

The mother-of-three explained her reason for not revealing how she made it by writing: “Loads of you asking what I used… I don't want to say in case I tell people the wrong thing so… I just looked up safe and effective hand sanitizer recipes online and found one with ingredients I had around the house.

She added: ”I hope that helps… love you all and stay safe."

Stacey was clearly proud of her efforts however, as she held up a number of plastic containers which were connected to a keyring and were filled with the homemade gel.

Joe Swash’s girlfriend later confirmed that she used hot sauce containers for her sanitiser as she said on Instagram stories: "Loads of you asking… yes. I did put my homemade hand sanitiser into old hot sauce pots.

She laughed as she added: “It's all I had!"

"And also I thought, you know, if the alcohol doesn't kill the virus, maybe the hot sauce residue will give it a good go."

Earlier this week, Stacey comforted her followers during this uncertain time amid the coronavirus outbreak, while also thanking those working extremely hard, such as healthcare professionals, teacher, public service workers and supermarket staff.

Alongside a smiley photo of herself, Joe and baby son Rex, she wrote: “For anyone who’s news feed isn’t making them feel good at the moment It’s been a weird day. I don’t have any hand sanitizer or secret government information for you (Although Susan might disagree) all I do have to offer is some smiles, hopefully some silliness & laughter during these unsettling times.

“Today we went to the shops (must be crazy I know) There was no pasta, rice, canned goods or hand wash But luckily no one is stockpiling Daim bars or storage jars so I managed to get my essentials.

"And thinking of all of the small business and big businesses having to shut, staff who are being laid off without any help, unsure of what to do, parents who are worried about supplies, and the most vulnerable basically just Bloody EVERYONE.” [sic]
