Simon Cowell’s friend Sinitta reveals hopes to replace Louis Walsh amid X Factor snub

Sinitta, 56, has shared her hopes of joining Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger on The X Factor judging panel after making several guest appearances on the ITV show. The singer, who is close friends with the head judge, made the revelation while discussing her thoughts about his new concept of The X Factor: Celebrity, which debuted this year.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Sinitta admitted she “couldn’t imagine” how the show would play out when Simon first described it to her.

She said: “I was just trying to understand, I thought it was a good idea and I think Champions is a good idea as well, I just couldn’t imagine how it was going to be.”

Although the star praised the format of the live shows as “amazing”, she pointed out the judging panel has room for improvement and suggested she should take Louis Walsh’s place.

She added: “I think it does work except I think I should judge instead of Louis but that’s just me!

“Louis is like the comeback kid but he should just be a gentleman and give me his chair.”

When quizzed on whether she would like to take part in the singing competition herself, the So Macho hitmaker divulged: “I mean we could try that, but if I, by some miracle, managed to win, people would think it was a fix.

“Simon would be so irritated as well because he’d have to make my records again. It makes me want to do it now!

“I would really just love Louis’ chair to be honest and to be dancing with Nicole and swooning over the rugby players and having a laugh.”

Sinitta’s comments about Louis come amid reports that the Irish star was snubbed from The X Factor: The Band judging panel.

Simon and Nicole were the only judges, with former winner Leona Lewis joining them as a guest in certain episodes.

A source informed The Sun that Louis was disappointed by the decision, explaining: “Louis had a fantastic time on X Factor: Celebrity and was confident he would be back for The Band.

“He obviously has a lot of experience working with bands such as Westlife.

“But Simon had other ideas. He felt it would make more sense to have him mentoring the boys and Nicole looking after the girls.”

However, an insider from the show insisted Louis “respects” the move, telling the publication: “Louis respects the producers’ decision and knows they do what is best for the show. There is certainly no bad blood or fallout.”

Elsewhere, Sinitta opened up about Simon’s recent weight loss, which stunned X Factor viewers this year due to his drastic transformation.

The music mogul lost 20lb in weight in a bid to get healthier and his pal was quick to take credit for his new look.

She said: “I had a very gentle, loving, whisper in his ear and said, ‘You know what? You need to get healthy’ and he was very gracious and accepted it and was like, ‘Yep, got it.’

“And he said, ‘You’re not going to recognise me the next time you see me’ and he just cleaned his act up.”

The singer explained she worried about Simon’s lifestyle and “felt as if he was drowning” by focusing on his busy career and neglecting his health.

She recalled: “You know you can tell when you look at someone’s face and I felt as if he was drowning, like he was there but it wasn’t really him.”
