The 69-year-old also “ran” into her house afterwards to avoid a kiss with her love interest.

The television star hasn’t had an “intimate relationship” since 2001, but she has said she is “not really bothered”.

Speaking out in a new interview with this week’s OK! Magazine, the mother-of-one recounted exactly what happened.

When asked if she was dating now, Sherrie stated why she has avoided dates of late.

She explained: “This is how badly my last date went: I was asked out for dinner by gentleman, so I thought, ‘Yes I’ll go’.”

However, during the meal, the mystery male asked her if she wanted some wine, which is when she attempted to take over.

Sherrie remembered: “So I said, ‘Yes, of course, we’re not coming for dinner and not having wine!’… Then I said, ‘No, I’ll order it because I know what I like!'”

But it was after he poured two glasses and put the cork back in that things took a turn.

She continued: “I said to him, ‘What are you doing? He said, ‘I’m driving…’ I said, ‘I’m not!’.

“I took the cork out of the bottle and drank the rest myself.”

Sherrie admitted she was a “bit wobbly” on her way out of the eaterie and was unable to stop “hysterically laughing”.

The small screen favourite said: “I got so hysterical I couldn’t stop. He didn’t think it was funny at all.
