Rush’s Neil Peart Narrates Inspirational Short Film

An eight-minute inspirational short film has been released five months after Neil Peart‘s death in January.

The film, titled Growth Rings, was the result of the late Rush drummer and lyricist’s collaboration with drum manufacturer DW Drums.

Peart narrates the short film, which examines how music marks the key moments in our lives.

“Just as the life of a tree can be understood through its growth rings, we can look at the milestones and eras of our lives and reminiscence of the songs and bands that resonated with us during those times,” DW Drums said in a statement.

“Artists works with their instruments to create a story that will mark their own place in the world, and maybe, if they are excellent and fortunate, they will leave a mark on the world of their own to be measured and counted among our growth rings,” Peart says in the film.

The script of the film was jointly written by Peart and Edge Factor founder and president Jeremy Bout.

“Neil and I explored the idea that each person can mark moments and milestones in our lives – the good and the bad years, the challenges and the triumphs in the same way a history of a tree can be understood by examining its growth rings,” said Bout.
