Michelle Obama Just Won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album So Here's Yet Another Reason to Bow Down

Tonight is the 62nd Grammy Awards, and as the world is still reeling from the devastating news that Kobe Bryant passed away this morning, some of the best musicians in the game have descended upon the Staples Center in Los Angeles to attend the ceremony.

Before the show even began, some awards were announced, and among them was one that might just fill you with the same level of excitement as the time when Michelle held a turnip and remixed “Turn Down For What.” Ah, memories.

In case you somehow forgot, Michelle published her memoir, Becoming, last year. Unsurprisingly, it was so good that she just won the Best Spoken Word category for the audiobook. (Michelle was nominated alongside the Beastie Boys Book, John Waters’ autobiography, poet Sekou Andrews, and Eric Alexandrakis’ album about being a two-time cancer survivor.)

If you haven’t listened to her audiobook yet, do yourself a favor and hear how she calls Sasha and Malia Obama “my two most precious peas” and talks about her time as the First Lady, a “job that’s not officially a job,” and one that she said “lifted me up and shrank me down, sometimes all at once.”

Unfortunately, it seems like since this win was already announced, CBS won’t air this category, so consider this my supervillain origin story. Also, nobody has seen Michelle at the ceremony yet, but she could very well be trying on sparkly thigh-highs or hiking with her girls right now. Whatever the case may be, Michelle now has just as many Grammys at Bradley Cooper, weirdly, and today will go down in history.
