Liam Gallagher fury: Oasis star’s bitter row with comic Peter Kay after BRITs snub exposed
Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher held a lengthy grudge against the Phoenix Nights star after the comedian called him out during the BRIT Awards. The ‘Wonderwall’ singer was mocked after he deliberately swore on live TV and then chucked a microphone off-stage. He was collecting the award for best BRITs album of the past 30 years, when he made the scene. The outburst occurred after Liam had just been handed the trophy by Queen guitarist Brian May. Peter Kay, who was compèring the ceremony, rapped the singer when he said: “What a k******d”. But the foul tempered Gallagher brother didn’t take the comment lightly, launching a lengthy tirade of abuse and threats at the Bolton-born comic.
The fuming frontman took to Twitter to vent about what had happened, where he sought to have his own say on “Peter Kay’s comment”.
He wrote: “Listen up fat f*** as a real northerner I was brought up 2 say s*** 2 people’s faces not behind their back. Live forever LG.”
Prior to the tweet, Liam hinted at his plans for the rest of the night, during a backstage BRITs interview with then-wife Nicole Appleton.
He said: “It was nice, it was nice. Now can we all take loads of class A drugs?”
At the BRIT Awards after-show party, it was claimed that Liam’s brother continued to rip him for his bizarre outburst on stage.
Clash Music claimed that Noel quipped: “Oh look, I’ve dropped my microphone.”
Peter Kay had also made a not-so subtle attempt to rile-up the musician, the day after the event on February 16, 2010.
On his website, he wrote: “So it was the Brits last night and I was honoured to be asked to host the show, especially with it being 30 years old.
JUST IN: Peter Kay’s shocking joke that landed comedian in deep water revealed
“Congratulations to all the winners, including Noel Gallagher, who sadly didn’t get a mention (and who thankfully isn’t a k******d).”
For a while, no further digs were exchanged and the celebrities appeared to be returning to normal life.
But two months on from the now-infamous snub it became clear that Liam had not forgotten and was still extremely sore about the ordeal.
In another expletive-filled rant, the singer insulted Peter for his weight and threatened to beat him up if the pairs’ paths ever crossed.

Liam said: “Talking of k**b, have you seen yours lately, you f****** fat c***? Know what I mean? Bet he ain’t seen his for years.
“That is one c*** who’d get decked if I saw him on the street, believe you me.”
During the outburst, he also threatened to “leather” his brother Noel and lambasted him for his friendship with comic Russell Brand.
As for Peter Kay, it appeared he didn’t take any heed of Liam’s cruel comments and nothing more was said.
Despite there being no further conflict, the comedian was revealed to have been losing weight back in 2004.
At the time, he allegedly enrolled on a Weight Watchers plan and started going to the gym.
Whether Peter’s decision was influenced by the rant is unclear – but with a thick-skin from years of comedy it would seem unlikely.
