Jon Gosselin Says He ‘Bankrupted Himself’ Trying To Divorce Kate Gosselin
Jon & Kate Gosselin may have split 10 years ago, but there are still some wounds which have yet to heal.
In a new interview on The Dr. Oz Show, which airs this Monday, the former reality TV dad is opening up about what the past decade has been like since separating from his wife (watch the clips HERE). His sit-down comes after tensions began to flare up once again this fall when Jon alleged Kate only visited their son Collin three times in three years while he was living in a behavioral institution.
While speaking with the daytime host, the 42-year-old revealed:
“I literally hung a sign on my gate saying, ‘If any crew members show up, I’ll have you arrested for trespassing.’ They sued me for breach of contract and I pretty much bankrupted myself.”
He added:
“I’ve spent $1.7 million in lawyers fees from when TLC sued me and the divorce. TLC paid for attorneys in the lawsuit and for her divorce.”
Jon claims to Oz that his ex wanted “legal custody to film my kids to sustain her lifestyle and their lifestyle,” and when asked if he views Kate as an “unfit mother,” Jon answered that “her belief system is skewed.”
The exes are parents to 18-year-old twin daughters Mady and Cara, and 15-year-old sextuplets Hannah, Alexis, Aaden, Joel, Leah, and Collin. Currently, the patriarch has custody of Hannah and Collin, and as of December 2018 did not have contact with his other six children.
He elaborated:
“I believe her intentions, in the beginning, were good intentions, bringing kids into the world. She fought to have these kids. But I think once fame and money got involved, it twisted her belief system. On my end, I’ve been fighting to get my kids off TV forever.”
In response to the new claims by her ex, the mother of eight made a statement to People:
“I have consistently made it a rule never to respond to Jon’s delusional ramblings, and I will not break that rule now. However, at some point soon, I look forward to making sure the absolute truth about our family is known.”
Eek! Sounds like she has something up her sleeve…
