Idris Elba: #MeToo era only difficult for men with something to hide
Idris Elba doesn’t think the #MeToo movement has made things any more challenging for men in the entertainment industry – unless they have something to hide.
During a recent interview with The Sunday Times, the actor, 46, was asked if it’s difficult to be a man in Hollywood during a time when predators and harassers are facing consequences for their actions.
“It’s only difficult if you are a man with something to hide,” Elba said simply.
This is far from the first time the “Luther” star, whose 16-year-old daughter was recently named a Golden Globe Ambassador, has spoken out in support of women.
While promoting “Molly’s Game” last year, Elba talked about the importance of being in a female-led movie to Den of Geek.
“It’s quite poignant,” he told the website. “Of course, this is a film that was made a year ago, and probably prepped two or three years ago, but to come out when its coming out now is actually quite amazing, when we’re seeing women stand up and have a liberation movement of speaking up against some their atrocities that has happened.”
