Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers in rare wife admission over solo show debut

Dave Myers, 62, is a British television cook that has enjoyed almost two decades of success as one half of the Hairy Bikers, alongside Si King, 53. The TV chef has now opened up about a solo television opportunity in Celebrity Wall of Death he revealed to his partner.

Dave – who took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 – admitted he was due to take part in the Channel 4 show, The Wall of Death, a motorcycle stunt that sees riders defying gravity.

In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the Hairy Bikers star revealed his wife Liliana was keen for him to take part in the show, despite its high level of risk-taking.

Speaking about the reality show, Dave explained: “There was one [show] that came up actually but it never got off the ground.

“Guy Martin was supposed to train people like myself to ride the Wall of Death.”

He continued: “This was a live programme for Channel 4 and I said to my wife,’ I’ve been asked to take part in this Celebrity Wall of Death’.

“I thought she was going to say, ‘You’re stupid doing that’ but instead she said’ ‘You’d love that wouldn’t you?’”

He added: ” I said I’d do it but nothing ever came of it, really.”

The Celebrity Wall of Death was due to air in 2018 in aid of Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer.

It was reportedly intended to be a spin-off version of Guy Martin’s Wall of Death which aired in 2016.

That show saw Guy take on the Wall Of Death live in a daring and extreme world record attempt, reaching speeds of 80mph.

The programme was never aired but Dave did spill on the other reality shows he has taken part in.

He said: “I’ve done Mastermind which was good and I won that. Si always teases me saying, ‘Did you win Mastermind?’. I wouldn’t do any more.

“I probably would do The Jump but I think it’s been taken off air now.”

Meanwhile, Dave who tied the knot with wife Liliana in 2011 in his home town of Barrow-in-Furness.

They have settled in the Loire Valley, France, with Liliana’s two children.

Speaking about his relationship, he said: “I didn’t propose – she’s still waiting!

“There was all this kerfuffle about papers so we talked about it and decided we should get married to secure the relationship.”

He added: “We were dead sure it was right and her mum and dad were coming over so we did it. We did end up having 400 people there. It was an epic. It was off the cuff, it just grew.”

Meanwhile, Dave who originally worked as a professional make-up artist, specialising in prosthetics, teamed up with his Hairy Biker co-star Si in 1992.

Their first appearance on UK television was as presenters of The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook, which began on the BBC in 2004 and continued for four series.

This followed with their food tour and a range of spin-off shows including Hairy Dieters, Hairy Bikers’ Asian Adventure and The Hairy Bikers’ Pubs That Built Britain.
