Emma Willis: ‘It really affected me’ Star reveals health news after blood test results
The Voice UK and Delivering Babies presenter, 43, opened up about how a bout of illness led her to turn to a professional to help figure out how to get her health back on track. “Normally, I’m a very positive, happy person and suddenly I wasn’t, and that really affected me,” she told Women’s Health. “I went to see a nutritionist, who did some tests, and it turned out to be lots of different things that were all over the place.” Emma Willis went on to reveal the symptoms she had been struggling with, listing: “Stress, inflammation in my body, as well as being puffy and bloated, and I was just knackered.
“You don’t realise that those things affect your body in the way that they do, until you’re not in a good place,” she continued. “I had to reassess everything.”
Emma went on to tell the publication her exercise regime had been “sporadic” as a result of her low energy levels.
“I’ve had to reassess everything because of blood test [results],” she said. “I was knackered, really – so my approach to exercise is quite sporadic.
“I was recommended training that didn’t put any extra stress on my body, so I’ve been doing reformer Pilates once or twice a week if I can. And I love it.
“I’m not very good at the mat-based stuff – with yoga,” she admitted. “I’m like, what do you mean ‘breathe’? I can’t breathe, I’m stuck.
“But I feel like I actually achieve something with reformer Pilates.”
Emma, who is married Busted star Matt Willis, 35, also opened up about becoming more secure with her body with age.
“It’s funny because, when I was younger, my body was ‘better’, but I was more insecure about it,” she said. “Then, in my thirties, I had children, so loved my body because of what it had produced.”
She added that she placed more emphasis on being healthy as she grew older, rather than focusing on her figure in terms of how she looks.
“The older I’ve got, the better my relationship with my body has become, and that’s because of my mindset,” she said.
Emma and Matt are parents to three children, Isabelle, nine, Ace, seven, and Trixie, three.
