Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn: A Timeline of Their Relationship

A sweet little secret love story! Ed Sheeran often stays out of the spotlight, but his relationship with fiancée Cherry Seaborn — whom he’s known since he was 11 — makes fans swoon.

Though the pair met as teenagers, they didn’t begin dating until 2015. Three years later, the “Shape of You” singer sealed the deal with a proposal … and a possible under-the-radar wedding.

First Things First

Sheeran and Seaborn were first linked in July 2015 after they were spotted together in New York City.

Sharing Their Story

The “Perfect” crooner opened up to Us Weekly in March 2017 about how he reunited with his love years after they first met at Thomas Mills High School in Suffolk, England. “One of our best friends worked on my tour, so when we came to New York, where she was living at the time, we hung out and reconnected through our mutual friend. She’s great,” he gushed.

His Muse

Sheeran also dished to Us in March 2017 about how the financial advisor inspired one of his most popular love ballads. “‘Perfect’ was the first song that I wrote for the album, It was inspired by Cherry,” he told Us at the time. “The line that goes, ‘Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song’ was about when we were in Ibiza listening to Future’s ‘March Madness’, literally not wearing any shoes and going mental on the lawn, which was quite a nice time. I didn’t see her first reaction to the song because she lived in New York at the time. So I just emailed it to her but she did really like it.”

She Said “Yes!”

Sheeran announced the couple’s happy news in a heartfelt Instagram post in January 2018. “Got myself a fiancé just before new year,” he wrote alongside a picture that shows him planting a kiss on Seaborn’s cheek. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”

Already an “I Do?”

Secret marriage speculation started swirling in February 2018 just one month after their engagement announcement when Sheeran was spotted sporting a band on his left ring finger while walking the red carpet solo at the 2018 Brit Awards.
