EastEnders’ Rita Simons shows off facelift with drastic haircut after ‘hiding jowls’
Rita Simons has shown off the results of her facelift – exclusively with OK!
The former EastEnders actress has seen the benefits of the 'Cinderella Lift' she had done at the Harley Street Skin Clinic, including being able to cut her hair into a chic bob after years of "hiding behind" her long tresses.
“Cutting my hair is really symbolic – it means I’ve got nothing to hide,” Rita, who was starting to notice jowls around her jawline as she aged, admitted.
“I wouldn’t have dreamed of cutting it short before, I didn’t realise just how much I was hiding behind my hair. Having it short and not worrying what my jawline looks like is freeing.”
Rita opted to have the procedure when she started to notice sagging around her jawline which highlighted a childhood scar.
Speaking about why she chose to have the Cinderella Lift she said it was because she knew it "wasn't a heavy-duty, invasive facelift."
“I took a picture in [to the clinic] of me at about 30-35. I said, ‘Don’t make me look like a Kardashian or anything, I just want my jawline a bit more how was back then,” she told us.
The 45 year old said undergoing the procedure, which took just half an hour, was pain-free and she had no down time afterwards.
However, Rita was keen to stress she’s “not vain” and it wasn’t about “wanting to look beautiful."
“It’s about ageing for me, too," she said. "I don’t like it when I feel like I’m starting to get old. I’m not trying to achieve something that isn’t me, I just wanted to turn back a little bit of time.
"And in photos I’m not thinking about having to hide my jowls any more. Nobody likes getting papped, but now I’m like, ‘OK, come at me then!"
When it comes to the future Rita would have the treatment, which lasts around two years, done again "in a heartbeat."
“I can justify the money and I don’t think I’ll ever not have it!” she laughed.
“It’s so simple and I want others to know you can also have things done. I don’t want to turn into Joan Rivers but it’s so good!”
