Debbie McGee’s co-star addresses her ‘completely different side’ in surprising admission
Debbie McGee, 61, stunned Charlotte Dawson, 27, with her “different” side as they starred alongside one another on Celebrity Come Dine With Me’s Christmas special. The Strictly Come Dancing favourite and reality TV star signed up to the E4 show in a bid to impress fellow celebrity guests with their festive themed dinner parties.
However, Charlotte admitted she got slightly distracted during the dining experience by Debbie’s “cheeky” stories from her showbiz career.
The TV personality revealed: “Debbie was like a Christmas present you kept unwrapping every night, she’s just dead saucy and dead cheeky.
“She has this completely different personality that no one knows about, it’s crazy honestly, I just didn’t expect it at all with her. I don’t think any of us did and we loved hearing about all her stories and her memories and how fun, funny and feisty she is.
“She really surprised all of us because we didn’t expect her to be like that.”

Charlotte insisted her other co-stars including, presenting duo Dick & Dom, drag performer Courtney Act and Snapchat prankster Stevo The Madman were “what you see is what you get”, while Debbie was a “dark horse”.
She explained: “Everyone else was what you see is what you get but Debbie was like every night we had another wrapper off, she was a present! We were like ‘Ooh’!
“You guys are going to be in for a right treat, you need to find out all of these cheeky stories. I can’t tell you the cheekiest story, you’ll have to wait and see.
“She is a dark horse I’ll tell you that but she’s still an icon.”
In spite of Debbie’s mischievous personality, Charlotte also spoke out about her “lovely” side during filming and explained her connection to her late dad, comedian Les Dawson.
The star said: “She was lovely about me as well. On the last night she said some lovely words and said how proud my dad would be of me and how lovely I’ve turned out to be.
“When she saw me the first night I think she was thinking, ‘Oh god’ because I was burping and all of that but by the end of it she was looking after me and was so lovely, she definitely took me under her wing.
“I spoke with her about my dad a lot and I felt really so much closer to him being around Debbie. She had such lovely stories and she’s worked with him and it’s so nice to hear those stories coming from someone who knew him so well.”

Charlotte went on to address her lack of cooking experience and admitted to struggling to prepare instant noodles.
On challenging herself to do get involved in the show, she divulged: “I just wanted to try it, when I got asked I thought oh my god this is going to be hilarious but I genuinely have never cooked in my life, I’ve tried but I’ve got two left hands.
“I do Super Noodles and I even get them wrong, it’s just ridiculous.”
Fortunately, Charlotte’s risk-taking in the kitchen paid off and she is now feeling “more confident” to whip up some culinary treats at home.
