Davide Sanclimenti admits intense pressure on him and Ekin-Su ‘affects them’

A year on from winning Love Island with his Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, Davide Sanclimenti has opened up about the pressure of maintaining a relationship under the spotlight – telling OK! that he often finds it difficult.
After winning over the nation with their sometimes-tempestuous romance on the show, Ekin-Su and Davide, both 28, soon moved in together in London.
But despite romantic trips abroad and many loved-up snaps on social media, the last year hasn't been all smooth-sailing for the pair.
In an exclusive chat with OK!, Davide opened up about his experience of online negativity surrounding their relationship, as he said: "I would be lying if I said that it's never been an issue – because we are human, and we get affected.
He continued: "But then you need to understand that there will be millions of people that like you, and then five or six who want to say something bad. So you have to learn to not take it too personally, and make sure you have a strong mindset."
But, negativity aside, Italian Davide is a big romantic at heart, as he tells us that he does many sweet things for Ekin-Su.
He explaned: "I've done a lot of romantic things. I think the one I probably enjoyed the most is when I gave her [Ekin-Su] the promise ring in Rome.
"It wasn't just a case of giving her a random ring – there was a lot of meaning behind it.
"It means that I believe in the relationship and I see Ekin-Su as the woman of my future, and the fact that I gave it to her in Rome, my hometown, is so she feels more part of me," he said. "I'm telling her 'I really believe in you and I really believe in us'.
"She was so shocked and really loved the idea."
And does Davide see marriage with Ekin-Su in his future?
He didn't give too much away as he told us that they are just "living day by day", but given his comments about Ekin-Su being the "woman of his future," wedding bells could be ahead.
"I feel like we are taking things more slowly now just living day by day," explained Davide. "I feel like we love each other.
"It's not like the beginning [when they left Love Island] where you're overwhelmed by everything, so now we are just not making any big plans – we are just living day by day."
However, the couple have made one big plan, as Davide revealed that they have made the decision to leave London and move to Manchester – where Davide was living prior to Love Island – which Davide puts down to him having a larger network of people there for business.
Davide clearly knows what he's doing when it comes to love, and has partnered up with Italian restaurant brand Prezzo for the second time, to host two speed dating events, one in London, and the other in Manchester, where he will give his advice to hopeful romantics.
Speaking about the partnership, Davide said: "I'm excited to collaborate with Prezzo once again, because it's an Italian restaurant and, obviously, I'm Italian.
"I feel like food is the language of love, so I'm excited to help singletons looking for love at the speed dating event nights at Prezzo."
Love Island Winner Davide Sanclimenti will be hosting two speed dating events with Prezzo, on Thursday 8 June in London (book here) and Thursday 15 June in Manchester (book here) to help Brits find love this summer.
