Country singer Jake Owen writes shady song about ‘Bachelorette’ Hannah Brown

Country singer Jake Owen was inspired to write a song about “Bachelorette” Hannah Brown after she appeared on the premiere episode of “The Bachelor” on Monday night.

Owen, 38, tweeted on Thursday that while watching the ABC dating show with girlfriend Erica Hartlein, he empathized with lead Peter Weber when Brown, 25, implied she still had feelings for her ex.

“I started feeling something for this Peter guy,” Owen explained. “Guy or girl, if you’ve given somebody multiple opportunities to take you as a lover, and not only do they be, like, ‘No, you’re not my thing,’ but then they just go on with their life, ask other people out … this has nothing to do with the actual ‘Bachelorette.’ This is just everyday life.”

On Brown’s “Bachelorette” season, she chose Jed Wyatt, and he proposed. However, they called off the engagement because Wyatt allegedly had a girlfriend right before filming began.

Instead of trying to make things work with Weber, who came in third place, Brown tried to rekindle a romance with second-place contestant Tyler Cameron on “After the Final Rose.” That didn’t work out because Cameron was pursuing supermodel Gigi Hadid.

On Monday night, viewers, including Owen, saw Brown break down over her supposed feelings for Weber. She was criticized for pursuing the “Bachelor” star after he was trying to move on with new contestants.

Owen’s song, “Alabama Hannah,” made a few digs at the reality star.

The track, co-written by musicians Ray Fulcher and Drew Parker, playfully referenced Weber’s pilot profession and where he and Brown shared they had sex — a windmill.

The lyrics said, “I guess you think you messed up since you’ve seen me moving on / Thinking we could pick up, honey, right where we left off / But you got to lay in the bed you made and I hate to let you down / Girl, this ain’t no windmill, we can’t go round and round.”

Owen continued singing, “Alabama Hannah won’t you roll on with the tide / Alabama Hannah wipe them tears from your eyes / you’re a beauty queen and a dancing star and I think you’ll be just fine / Alabama Hannah, girl, won’t you get out of my life.”

Brown acknowledged the song on Twitter, and responded, “Well, this is one way to get a song written about you. This is some catchy shade @jakeowen.”

“Bachelor” host Chris Harrison also commented, “My man @jakeowen speaking his truth to Hannah B on behalf of Peter #TheBachelor.”

Brown replied to Harrison, saying, “Better just be his truth Christopher. I’m not just chop liver now—you still have to love me and try to understand my mess.”
