Chris Evans, 53, underwent a minor procedure on Monday to get rid of the varicose veins on his legs that were causing him problems. The radio DJ runs has adopted marathon running and said he felt “brilliant” after the surgery. But on Wednesday morning’s Virgin Radio show, he gave an update on his recovery process which might have made fans shudder and feel “squeamish”.
I over did it yesterday, I think I over did it

On Tuesday he revealed that he had undergone microwave ablation, which is a minimal invasive treatment as his veins were “too severe” for a non-invasive method.
Chris and his co-star, Kate Lawler filmed the procedure on her Instagram story which wasn’t for the faint hearted, and saw Chris running down the street an hour after the four-hour long surgery.
He admitted on camera that despite being “squeamish” he was surprised at how calm he felt during the procedure while under local anaesthetic.
But he soon realised that running isn’t an option as his legs need time to recover from the trauma of the procedure.

Chris is known for sharing intimate details about his life with his listeners and provided them with an update of his recovery: “We posted another varicose vein post-procedure video last night via [Kate Lawler’s] Instagram,” he exclaimed.
“It was too sensitive for our corporate Instagram feed!”
The treatment left Chris with bruises, which he noted would go down in a few days, but the Instagram video showed Chris’ legs looking rather cut up.
“It was a bit bloody actually, there I was having a glass of Claret whilst talking about my own Claret,” he joked about sipping red wine whilst speaking to followers about the state of his legs.
“I over did it yesterday, I think I over did it,” Chris said ominously.
“The vein genius that is Professor Mark Whitley from the Whitely Clinic said it was good to exercise immediately after the op, it’s good to keep things moving – don’t let your legs go too stiff,” he explained.
But, the marathon lover may have pushed himself a little too far than his recovering legs could handle.
“I went on a nine kilometre run yesterday and they started to weep a bit,” he confessed.
“Only from little pin-prick wounds but my legs started to weep a bit almost like a reluctant watering-can head.”

The radio DJ said his surgeon was shocked when he told him and said that nine kilometre was far too much and the only exercise he should be doing was “walking around the house an maybe up the stairs now and again.”
With the Tokyo marathon coming up in March 2020, Chris has been training hard with a strict routine.
On Tuesday’s show, he promised his viewers he would come back from Japan with a new personal best now his legs feel “great,” but maybe he’ll have to take a short break from running while he recovers.
“It’ll be my eighth and promise you I’ll run it quicker than any other one, I guarantee that with my new legs!” He vowed to fans.

Chris described his varicose veins as “mountainous” and earlier this year, he revealed that his wife, Natasha Shishmanian was booking him in to get them sorted out.
Varicose veins can have multiple symptoms, including aching, burning and throbbing pains in their legs and muscle cramp.
Hopefully he won’t be out of action for too long if he wants to keep that promise of getting a new personal best but, like his surgeon said, it’s important to give his legs the right amount of time to recover.
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Sky airs weekdays at 6:30pm.
