Charlotte wrote to her 168,000 followers on Sunday: "Highly recommend if you can help it, not sending your children back to school tomorrow.

"This government doesn't give a flying f**k about you, your children, your elders or your vulnerable. #resist"

After confusing her Welsh fans, who's schools are remaining shut, she added: "Schools in Wales aren't opening no…..I mean for parents across the border."

Her statement divided fans, with some supporting her message, as one wrote: "As a GP, although I may have worded this differently, Charlotte has totally nailed the message I am spreading in my world."

A second wrote: "They want my little girl who's 3 I'm nursery tomorrow it's not happening [sic]"

While a third said: "I'm not sending my son back to school, it feels the right decision at the moment."

However, others were shocked by the Crazy Chick hitmaker's remarks, with one writing: "This is shocking for you to ask.

"There are many children who haven't had ANY education the last 10 weeks children need not only the education they need interaction with their school friends.

"You as a mother I would have thought you would have understood the importance of this."

A second said: "Irrespective of your political persuasion noone has the right to STOP our children being educated.

"Also if children don't get back to school parents won't be able to return to work and the economy continues to nose dive. We need to reverse this. While still keeping safe."

As a third chimed: "I'd hope most parents decision making is more nuanced and carefully balanced than this.
