Catherine Tyldesley on husband’s holiday coronavirus battle ‘He got taken to hospital’
Former Coronation Street star, Catherine Tyldesley, 36, has revealed the details around her husband, Tom Pitfield’s, coronavirus battle while they were holidaying in Dubai last November. The soap actress said Tom’s symptoms came after a man in his twenties collapsed “several times” on their flight to Dubai.
He said ‘I can’t breathe’.

Catherine, who has been married to Tom since 2016, told Lorraine Kelly, 60, why she thinks Tom contracted the virus on holiday.
The TV star said: “We travelled to Dubai in November and whilst we were on the flight there was a young chap… maybe late 20s who collapsed several times.
“He was receiving oxygen from the amazing staff that were onboard.”
Catherine continued to tell Lorraine about how Tom was experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and recalled him saying he couldn’t breathe.

She explained: “We made it to Dubai and he got whisked away and the following morning I woke up and Tom wasn’t there…
“I went into the spare room where he was and he said ‘I can’t breathe.'”
The actress went on to tell the presenter: “He was wheezing and he said you need to phone an ambulance.”
The Corrie star said she stayed with him when he was taken to hospital and the doctors thought it was pneumonia to begin with.

Catherine said: “He got taken to hospital and I stayed with him… they thought initially it was some kind of pneumonia…
“I revealed this on Instagram once the holiday was over and so many people got in touch with me, I’d say at least eight people dm’d me saying they were on that flight and they got it.”
The 36-year-old then said: “For me, I think this has been knocking around probably since September/October.”
Earlier on in her interview with Lorraine via video call, the Strictly Come Dancing sensation told the host that both her parents are now recovering from the virus and have “turned a corner”.

She added: “So this is week three now of them having the virus and it’s been a bit of a slog.
“Every time we think they’re getting better they seem to go backwards… but they’ve turned a corner now.”
However, the Strictly star admits that all she wants to do is be with them and “give them a hug”.
Catherine continued to open up about her parents as she said: “My mum said she’s never seen my dad this poorly.

“All I want to do is give them a hug,” she told Lorraine.
Catherine, who left The Cobbles in 2018, added: “They’ve handled it very well. Touch wood I feel they’ve been over the worse of it now.”
The actress previously exclusively revealed why she left the soap to Express.co.uk.
She confessed: “For me, it was just the right time to go. I think everyone has got their own views and stuff, I can’t speak for everyone else.”
