Cardi B says Offset split isn’t for publicity
Even though Cardi B and Offset aren’t together anymore, she still gives him credit for teaching her a lot about the music industry.
While getting her makeup done on Sunday, the “I Like It” rapper began an Instagram Live video and opened up about their breakup for the first time since publicly announcing the split.
“I learned a lot,” she said in the video (via People). “I ain’t really know much about the music industry and you know my husband helped me. He made me wiser. He let me open my eyes to a lot of things, and even though we are not together anymore, I learned a lot.”
While there seems to be zero animosity between the former couple, the 26-year-old rapper slammed those who believe the split was for publicity.
“I just really hate how people say we trying to do this for publicity,” she continued, noting that they have their 4-month-old daughter Kulture and their individual careers to focus on. “Think we want to put our life out there for what — what we gain from publicity? Nothing.”
Cardi also quashed any rumors about her marriage being fake.
“I’ve been seeing a lot of people say that my relationship was fake. Bitch, there’s certain things called love,” she said, according to a clip posted by a fan. “People do fall in love. Like my relationship was never fake. I met this n—a, he was on my ass, I gave him a chance and we fell in love with each other.”
“But we never did anything for publicity, bitch. You think I got f–kin’ pregnant, could have ruined my career for f–kin’ publicity,” she added.
Similarly to Ariana Grande, Cardi also said that 2018 was an incredible year professionally but difficult personally.
“You know, I feel like I got critiqued the most this year, my pregnancy, it was just extremely emotional, and I feel like a lot of bitches was trying me from left to right,” she shared, adding that the “pressure” to work meant she put her career before everyone else.
“I just put my work before everything and everybody and it’s always gonna be like that,” she said. “Now that I have s–t, I ain’t never gonna let it go.”
Meanwhile, her estranged husband doesn’t appear to be moving on.
“F–K YALL I MISS CARDI,” Offset, 26, shared with his 1.59 million Twitter followers.
