Brandi Carlile Releases ‘The Mother’ Video Just In Time For Mother’s Day

Brandi Carlile has released new video for “The Mother” ahead of Mother’s Day, providing an accurate portrayal of the day-to-day roles of a mother.

“The first things that she took from me were selfishness and sleep/ She broke a thousand heirlooms I was never meant to keep/
She filled my life with color, canceled plans, and trashed my car/ But none of that was ever who we are,” Carlile sings in the song, a tribute to her daughter, Evangeline.

“The Mother” is a song from Carlile’s sixth studio album, By the Way, I Forgive You, which was released last year.

Earlier this week, the three-time Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter revealed the lineup for her second Girls Just Wanna Weekend festival in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
